The 2015 Swim/Bike/Run Gear I Use List

www.dcrainmaker.com/2015/05/2015-swimbikerun-gear-list.html

Currently The Girl has pushed forward an “Occupy KICKR” movement that has left me back on the CompuTrainer.

Wahoo RIVAL Multisport GPS Watch In-Depth Review

Remember CompuTrainer? Yup – Wahoo was the legit ‘CompuTrainer Killer’.

Putting together the Vasa Swim Trainer/Ergometer in less than 90 seconds

In my ways it reminded me quite a bit of the CompuTrainer in terms of heaviness, except these boxes were bigger and harder to move around.

A look at the 2012 Washington DC Multisport Expo

Like previous years, Bonzai held CompuTrainer racers within the grounds of their massive booth estate.

Checking out the EZ-Trainer iPad ANT+ App

But more importantly, it’s the only computer-based platform aside from the TACX or CompuTrainer that allows you to display your actual data in real-time (ok, Golden Cheetah has it too these days).

Stuck

Here’s the items up for review: CompuTrainer – Essentially a computerized trainer that can change resistance.

The 2013 Swim/Bike/Run Gear I use List

Currently The Girl has pushed forward an “Occupy KICKR” movement that has left me back on the CompuTrainer.

Week in Review–December 27th, 2015

5) CompuTrainer Recall: This was also a few weeks ago – but I really want to ensure folks see this.

A working weekend in Vegas

www.dcrainmaker.com/2012/04/working-weekend-in-vegas.html

Recording at the time was a CompuTrainer (via TrainerRoad), the Quarq RED SRAM 2012 Cinqo (they let me hold onto the bike a couple weeks longer to test against the Polar/Look pedal pieces), and finally…the Polar/Look power pedals.

A Morning At Velo Boutique–A Full KICKR Group Cycling Studio

www.dcrainmaker.com/2014/10/morning-boutiquea-cycling.html

Of course, similar concepts aren't new - there's been CompuTrainer studios around the world for some time for example, but an all-out KICKR studio is pretty rare as far as I know.

A White Christmas (Tree) and a run in the snow

www.dcrainmaker.com/2008/12/white-christmas-tree-and-run-in-snow.html

One funny part though (aside from it falling), is that the tree protrudes out into the view of my monitor I use every other day for the CompuTrainer (bike).

Week in Review–August 31st, 2013

www.dcrainmaker.com/2013/08/reviewaugust-31st-2013.html

TrainerRoad: If you’ve got a CompuTrainer, Wahoo KICKR or Kinetic inRide, I’d definitely recommend this update, which addresses a few issues.

Packed and ready to roll…and run…and that swim thing.

www.dcrainmaker.com/2009/04/packed-and-ready-to-rolland-runand-that.html

The official plan is “quickly build to a very hard effort (167 to 170)”, which, based on this week’s CompuTrainer intervals, is about a 320 watt output.

PowerTap’s new hubs, Bluetooth Smart Trainers, iPad apps, and more

www.dcrainmaker.com/2013/08/powertaps-bluetooth-trainers.html

If they can sort that out, it’d actually make for the first iPad app on the market to actually control the KICKR while riding a full GPX/GPS file (CycleOps/PowerTap, Tacx, CompuTrainer and others have had that for a while).

Garmin Edge 705 In Depth Review

www.dcrainmaker.com/2008/12/garmin-edge-705-review.html

I use a CompuTrainer today for indoor power/wattage information – but don’t have anything for outdoors.

Spring meets DC, and I meet the 1980’s.

In some cases one might do a double-take on power meter calibration, but I’m lucky in that I can get a quick double-check from the CompuTrainer and they both are in the same ballpark +/- a few watts (as usual).

First look at the Kinetic by Kurt $200 Bluetooth Smart inRIDE power meter trainer accessory

Once TrainerRoad opened up, the pairing process was essentially no different than other sensors that TrainerRoad supports (such as ANT+ and Bluetooth Low Energy, as well as the CompuTrainer).

4iiii Precision Power Meter In-Depth Review

www.dcrainmaker.com/2015/12/4iiii-precision-review.html

For indoor tests, I’d usually place it onto a trainer that supported rear wheel usage (generally the CompuTrainer, so I could keep the PowerTap hub on the bike).

A look at the now available Wahoo Fitness Strava Segments App

www.dcrainmaker.com/2013/08/available-fitness-segments.html

Keeping in mind that most other software suites out there from CycleOps, Tacx, and Racermate (CompuTrainer) cost hundreds of dollars (though do deliver more).

Double duty – a week of workouts in the world of me

www.dcrainmaker.com/2009/02/double-duty-week-of-workouts-in-world.html

I also finished up the day with a short midnight mile run to recalibrate my recently returned Garmin 305, and then did a short trainer ride in an unsuccessful attempt to fix an issue with the CompuTrainer.Tuesday: Normally the snow and freezing rain would have thrown my usual Tuesday run for a bit of a loop.

PowerTap C1 Chainring Power Meter In-Depth Review

www.dcrainmaker.com/2015/12/powertap-chainring-review.html

For indoor tests, I’d usually place it onto a trainer that supported rear wheel usage (generally the CompuTrainer, so I could keep the PowerTap hub on the bike).

75 Seconds to Evaporation

www.dcrainmaker.com/2009/07/75-seconds-to-evaporation.html

The CompuTrainer drivers the watts, I’m just along for the ride.
