The Didn’t Get What You Wanted $500 Gadget Giveaway

IMG_2902

I’m sure many of you received various sports gadgets over the last few weeks as part of the holidays.  But for those unlucky elves who received a half-eaten gel packet in their Christmas stocking from their not-so-significant others, I’ve got a festivus of a present for you: This giveaway.

The winner will get a $500 credit to CleverTraining.com, my most excellent partner in this giveaway crime.  By supporting the site through Clever Training you also can save 10% on basically anything they sell.  If you win, you can use that credit for anything from the new Garmin Fenix3 to a BSX Gen2 Insight to a random pair of socks to the 4iiii’s Precision Power Meter, or heck, even towards a new trainer.  Whatever floats your boat.

How to enter:

Simply leave a short description of what product you’d get and why (but don’t worry, you can change your mind later if you win).

The reason you need a short description of ‘’why’ is that if you just put a simple product name (i.e. A360), you’ll likely get caught up in my SPAM filters.  And nobody wants to be sandwiched between two pieces of SPAM.  Got all that?

Good luck!

The giveaway entry period will run through Thursday, December 31st, 2015 until 11:59PM US Eastern Time.  Winner will be selected randomly.  One entry per person.  The selected product/products will then be ordered immediately and shipped immediately, assuming they’re in stock.

I would love to have the fr235 as my first running watch!!

  2. Turn The Damn Cranks

Probably a Fenix 3 as I wouldn’t mind a tri-capable upgrade for my Vivoactive. But I wouldn’t mind using the cash to reduce the cost of a Kickr either . . .

Thanks, as always, for the awesome opportunity. And happy new year to you and The Girl!

  3. Mark Manner

I would apply it to a 2nd P1 pedal set.

  13. Chris Boggs

New smart trainer to alleviate the boredom of riding my non-smart trainer in the basement this winter!

  14. Lars

Probably a 920XT tri bundle. Would love to see some HR data for the swims. Oh, and of course I would choose a nice DC Rainmaker SaferSwimmer to go with it for open water swimming :-)

  15. Martin Villemure

New tri watch for my wife!

  16. DocRMP

Tacx Neo because my rollers are getting lonely…

  17. Marius

I wanted the Garmin Forerunner 630 to replace my old 305 – I love the idea of running without an strap to monitor my heartbeat.

  18. Rob

Garmin Epix. The watch to end all watches.

    • Sharon

Happy New Year and thanks for all your hard work. I’d buy a power meter or bike computer because I want to focus on getting stronger and faster on my bike this year.

  19. Jay D

All I want for Christmas was a Garmin 235!

  20. j vance

I would love a Vivosmart HR! Asked for Christmas and Santa didn’t deliver. :( My first vivosmart was taken out by a garbage disposal!

  21. Todd

My wife has been running half-marathons and wants me to join her in a half and full…with that in mind, I’d get a new Garmin Forerunner 630 to help “motivate” me!

  22. Benjamin

Fenix 3, to show my Apple Watch wearing colleagues what the intersection of digital and style really looks like.

  23. Carolyn

I’d use it to buy my husband a new running watch, probably the Garmin FR630 to help him train for half and full marathons with me!

  24. Matt

Fenix 3. I need a new multisport watch and I like the look.

  25. Carole Faghel

The scosche rithme is a favourite of mine.

  26. Anthony

Quark Rikken R! (110 BCD, 170 crank arm length, gxp – not like i’ve looked into it or anything :)). Or at least pay for part of it! I’ve wanted power for a long time and I do bicycling related research. Currently tinkering with forces at the bicycle pedal but definitely am going to be adding more power into the mix and a power meter would be highly beneficial!

  27. TOm

I’d be happy to get a Polar v900… or whatever the name of the new v800 will be ;-)

  28. Priscilla Gayle

I would love love love the garmin 235!!! It would help me with my new year resolution of getting healthier.

  29. James H

    Garmin 520

4iiii’s Precision Power Meter, because Ray said so!

  34. Kimberly G.

I asked for the 920xt but did not get it (sad face)….I even said it would cover all gifts for the next 2 years….but no luck (insert another sad face). I would love to have it for my tri training.

  35. Jeff B

4iiii power meter. Don’t have a Power meter currently, rode theirs and loved it.

  36. Ross

Garmin Edge 520. Seems to be great cycling computer

  37. jason

New to Triathlon and would love to add Garmin 920 XT Tri Bundle to the mix. My old Timex w/ HRM served me well, but “disappeared” at the gym earlier this year. :(

  38. Dustin l

I would get a power meter of some sort. I would need to research a bit to decide which route to go in regards to brand and type but I would love one to be able to take the new training ideas I’m learning via virtual power on trainerroad and apply them to my outdoor road training. I

  39. Joseph Bruntz

I’d go for a combo Garmin FR 235 and Edge 520!
Hope Santa / Ray will make it happen!

  40. vincent

The new Garmin Fenix3 would be nice for me

  41. Charlie MacArthur

4iiii Power meter: Seems to be the right fit at the moment.

  42. Xavier Gastaud

I am thinking along the lines of a Garmin 930xt or an Edge 820…

  43. DJE

happy new year everybody around the world.
500$ would bee a good start into the new year ;o)

  44. Slowmo

    Virb XE please :)

  45. Go big or go home I say! I’d put the money towards a Garmin Fenix 3 Sapphire (or Garmin Fenix 4 if that’s out by the time this competition is over :P)

  46. Fred Garderes

    Suunto Ambit3 Peak
    Because upgrades are always good…

  47. George

Thinking about Garmin Edge 1000. Love the big screen.

  48. Dana

I’d go for the Powertap C1 Chainrings, training with power has been a huge help this winter but come spring I want to ride outdoors with it too!

  49. Kevin Kohlhagen

I would get a Garmin epic to have on wrist mapping.

  50. Kerry Sullivan

I’d like to get some his/hers vivosmart HRs and an Index scale. Get this resolution in the digital age!

  51. Nathan S

A 4iii power meter, been riding for a long time longing for an extra layer of insight to my performance

    Fingers crossed!!!

  52. Jonathan

Ooh, shiny toys for free! That’s why!
I think I’d grab a Garmin Forerunner 630, because it’s smaller than my 310XT. So I’ll be faster, right? :)

  53. Biz

I’d like to give my wife a present: vivoctive or garmin630!

  54. DanielK

I would be interested in getting the Fenix 3 or I might get my first power meter.

  55. UliS

Garmin Fenix 3! Because I think it’s the most complete multi-sport/trail-running/hiking watch on the market today.

  56. Damon

Fenix 3, been wanting it as a daily watch since released but I had just bought the Fenix 2 a few months prior

  57. Alejandro Mendoza

Garmin forrunner 920xt to look like a champ while doing my tri’s this summer.

  58. Stuart Sheath

I’d get a garmin forerunner 235 to help with my ironman training

  59. Devon

KICKR – cause at some point we’re going to actually get some snow up here in the north east and I’ll have to put the bike away…

  60. I would love a Garmin Edge 1000!

  61. I would love a Garmin Forerunner 235. I currently have a FR620, but I see the 235 as a reasonable upgrade for me as a runner. I am interested in tracking my heart rate too throughout the day since I am reaching the age of being concerned with my heart (Yes, I am almost 40). I see the 235 as a perfect way of tracking that metric since I will not have to wear a chest strap all day. Thanks for offering this giveaway. I am sure with $500, I can get some snazzy socks too.

  62. Colin Stewart

I would get a Garmin 235 because I’ve been freezing my butt off waiting for my Garmin 10 to find satellites

  63. Felipe P.

Garmin or Suunto multi sport watch, to branch out beyond cycling to Aquabike events.

  64. Sandeep

Would love Garmin FENIX3 for my HM training.

  65. Crawford

Bike case, so I can bring my bike with me as I travel!

  66. Mario

Año dual leg power meter would be perfect!

  67. Brian

I’d like to gift the Garmin Fenix3 to my dad. I took him out for a mountain bike ride yesterday – our first ride together in over a year – and he took a bad spill: broken ribs, bruised lung … He probably won’t be out on the bike for a while, so the ‘bike indoor’ feature may come in handy.

  68. Chris Chapa

Probably the 4iiii powermeter or 920xt because I do not have either!

  69. Kamil Lesiak

    bePro Dual Side Power Pedals.

This seson I’ve broken my forearm 11 of June and the seson was over for me.
This year I want to get back on the horse big – takes thing for another level. In 3 words : Training with Power.
I thought I couldn’t afford powermeter until I seen review od bePro here.

My Goal for this year is to do MTB 24h Marathon Solo :link to 24hours-mtb.com ( I was third in Duo Men and second in Duo Mix )

Have a great New Year Everybody :)

  70. David Faria

4iiii Power meter – would take training on the bike to a new level, plus the technological challenge of trying to get the bike up and running on Zwift using it on rollers!

  71. Martins Pakulis

Garmin Forerunner 630 – to help me grasp the fun of interval training and advance to the next level.

  72. Kuba Wosik

    Hi Ray,

With that credit I could get my wife a nice small GPS running watch, like Garmin FR 230 or something like that. She’s just starting running again after a year’s break and I think that would give the tiny little push that she sometimes needs to go out for a run (especially that here in Poland it’s apparently winter and temps are well below freezing, which is awesome for someone who has been running regularly, but for someone who had a long break – not so much).

    Thanks!

  73. Tom

Garmin Fenix 3, think Santa just forgot me on Christmas. I had the watch on the list I sent him.

  74. Tim D.

I’d go with the Garmin Epix, because who doesn’t want to track skiing?

  75. Sebas Vela

    I asked Santa for a Polar M450,

  76. Fragkiskos

    Garmin Fenix 3

  77. Brad

Hero4 Silver. For riding, running and general horse playing.

  78. Lori

Marsala Garmin 235 for my pudgy husband, he needs all the help he can get! Lol and the rest for me! Thanks DCR and have a great New Year!!!

  79. James Goodsall

    A Garmin 235 please

  80. Berdell

I’d like the trainer since it’s the middle of winter and I’d be able to ride the bike more.

  81. Gavin

    I’d love a Garmin Forerunner 630 + HRM – the biz!

  82. David Tanioka

I need long battery life since I’m trying to go beyond 50k ultras. So maybe the Fenix 3 or Ambit3.

  83. Tom K.

I’d like to get forerunner 920XT – one for everything

  84. Kevin

Garmin 520 to replace my Garmin 500 which is really showing it’s age – as are my eyes. Getting hard to read that display.

  85. Timothy Churchill

Garmin Fenix 3 would be nice simply because I want one!!!

  86. Emiliano

Definitely the 4iiii power meter, the weather around here is very often windy, it’s hard to measure performances based on distance/speed/cadence alone.

  87. Right now, the struggle is real to find an Adidas miCoach Speed Cell Foot Pod in Canada. I’ve been committed to the RFLKT+/iPhone combo for the last couple of years for both cycling and running but need something for the new membership to the gym that has an indoor track.

I would perhaps sway to the sole ANT+ side with Garmin and get a Garmin FR920XT, Foot Pod, Speed/Cadence Sensor and Forerunner Quick Release Kit.

  88. Andrew

I’d get a power meter for my wife. She’s training for her first ironman

  89. Siam

Socks! and more socks! And maybe a garmin swim!

  90. Tony Kovanic

I didn’t get my Fenix 3 for Christmas.

  91. bele

I’d take a GoPro Here 4 plus some accessories to film my South African adventures. :)

  92. Angie

I would probably get a vivosmart HR or a Fenix 3.

  93. Brian Molloy

I would like the Garmin Fenix 3 please! I’ve been wanting one for a while but can’t see spending the money when I still have a perfectly functional (if not old) 310xt

  94. Kevin McFaul

I would get a new Garmin 920xt or fenix3 to replace my aging 310xt.

    Thank you
    Kevin

  95. Nick

A garmin edge – would be nice to update

  96. Steve

I’m interested in a bike power meter.

  97. Steve S.

Garmin FR235. Looks like a near-perfect running watch.

  98. Engidu

A Suunto Ambit 3 or a Fenix 3, still undecided, to be used for trail runs and hiking trips and the occasional swim.

  99. Anders

A Garmin Edge 520. The current Garmin is running on its last season, so I need a new one. No need for mapping functionality so a 520 is perfect

  100. Natalee

4iiii power meter for my road bike. Have one on my mountain bike and love it
