D) Pushing to Garmin/Wahoo/etc… for outdoor workouts (like they do for cycling today)…

Polar Ignite GPS In-Depth Review

www.dcrainmaker.com/2019/08/polar-ignite-review.html

Typically I’d wear a chest strap (usually the Garmin HRM-DUAL), as well as another optical HR sensor watch on the other arm (primarily the Polar OH1+, but occasionally the Wahoo TICKR FIT, and Scosche 24 too).

Zwift Releases Apple TV App: Everything you need to know

www.dcrainmaker.com/2017/11/zwift-releases-apple.html

From a sensor standpoint I’ve also tried Garmin’s Vector 3 power meter and Wahoo’s TICKR X heart rate strap – all over Bluetooth Smart natively, no issues.

Checking out the Kayak Power Meter system

www.dcrainmaker.com/2013/06/checking-power-system.html

They’ve also looked at doing the same on the iPhone/iPod/iPad platform with the Wahoo Fitness ANT+ adapter.

My 2012 ANT+ Symposium Presentation

www.dcrainmaker.com/2012/10/my-2012-ant-symposium-presentation.html

In presenting here I’m able to address the vast majority of the sports technology industry, from the big player names you hear daily (Garmin, Timex, etc..) to the companies that design the components they use (Texas Instruments, Nordic Semiconductor), to all the smaller companies that support and compete with those devices (Wahoo, Clothing+, Alphamantis, 4iiii’s, and many more you’ve never heard of).

Mid-Week Tidbits: Canyon supports trainer riding and Suunto clarifies platform future

www.dcrainmaker.com/2019/11/supports-clarifies-platform.html

Essentially Suunto is trying to take a Wahoo-like approach of app or nothing, rather than a complete ecosystem approach like Garmin or Polar.

Garmin Instinct GPS Watch In-Depth Review

www.dcrainmaker.com/2018/10/garmin-instinct-review.html

Typically I’d wear a chest strap (usually the HRM-TRI or Wahoo TICKR X, but also the Polar H7), as well as another optical HR sensor watch on the other wrist (and usually also a Scosche Rhythm 24).

www.dcrainmaker.com/2011/03/results-of-2011-dcrainmaker-survey.html

However, the numbers bumped slightly higher when it came to hard/unavailable product to get giveaways (like the Wahoo Bike Case Giveaway), with y’all really wanting more of those! When it came go Guest Posts, you were all cautious yet optimistic.

Tech Tidbits: LIMITS Power Meter Company Liquidates, COROS Firmware Update, Skydio Leaves Consumer Drones

www.dcrainmaker.com/2023/08/liquidates-firmware-consumer.html

I thought it was interesting that they noted they approached both Wahoo and Peloton, but didn’t get traction.

Week in Review–February 2nd, 2020

Garmin ECG Now Available in EU (But not Fenix 7 Pro & Epix Pro)

www.dcrainmaker.com/2025/01/garmin-ecg-now-available-in-eu-australia.html

Years ago Garmin heavily leaned towards the 'no upgrades' model, yet was forced by the market (Wahoo on the bike computer side, Apple, Suunto, and COROS on the watch side), to change with the times and provide meaningful upgrades.

How to: Installing Free Maps on your Garmin Fenix 5/6, Forerunner 945, or MARQ Series watch

www.dcrainmaker.com/2019/08/installing-garmin-forerunner.html

Plus, many other competitors like Wahoo, Stages, and Sigma simply make it easy for you to download maps without all this fuss.

Hands-on: Cycliq’s new Fly6 CE & Fly12 CE with Garmin integration and more!

www.dcrainmaker.com/2017/11/cycliq-fly6ce-fly12ce.html

While at present only Garmin on the head-unit side (to my knowledge) supports the ANT+ lighting standard, now that we have four different lighting vendors (Garmin, Bontrager, See Sense, Cycliq), perhaps we’ll see other companies start to support the lighting standard (cough, Wahoo, or, cough).

Hands-on: Team Zwatt launches subscription based power meter

www.dcrainmaker.com/2016/08/hands-launches-subscription.html

The company says they’ve tested the following apps with it: Strava, TrainerRoad, Zwift, Wahoo Fitness, Sufferfest, CycleMeter, Kinomap, RideWithGPS, iBiker, Cateye Cycling, and MapMyTracks.
