The Because It’s Friday $500 Gadget Giveaway!

DSC_9991

Today is Friday – you made it to the end of the week. But more importantly, today is also Australia Day. I only know that because I’m in Australia, and the beaches are more crowded than the starting line of a marathon (still, I pretended to workout and went for a short swim).  Thus, it seems reason enough to give away some gadget goodness.  But fear not, I won’t be restricting this to those in Australia, or any other country.  Anyone, anywhere on earth, is welcome to join as always.

Somehow it’s been far too long since we’ve last done a giveaway.  I seriously don’t know how, because I talk about it almost every month with the Clever Training crew, and then somehow it slips off my radar.  Perhaps we just need more holidays to have faux reasons for me to give stuff away.

The winner will get a $500 credit to CleverTraining.com, my most excellent partner in this giveaway crime.  By supporting the site through Clever Training you also can save 10% on almost anything they sell (or get points instead).  If you win, you can use that credit for anything from the GoPro Hero6 Black, to a Suunto Spartan Ultra, to a random pair of socks, to the Garmin Vector 3 power meter, or heck, even towards a new trainer.  Whatever floats your boat (note: they don’t sell boats).  Also note, your credit is in US dollars, not Australian – otherwise you’d get less.  Nobody wants less.

How to enter:

Simply leave a short description of what product you’d get and why (but don’t worry, you can change your mind later if you win).

The reason you need a short description of ‘why’ is that if you just put a simple product name (I.e. F5), you’ll likely get caught up in my SPAM filters.  And nobody wants to be sandwiched between two pieces of SPAM.  Got all that?

Good luck!

The giveaway entry period will run through Monday, January 29th, 2018 until 11:59PM US Eastern Time.  Winner will be selected randomly.  One entry per person.  The selected product/products will then be ordered immediately and shipped immediately, assuming they’re in stock.

I think I would get the GoPro Hero6 :) Thanks in advance! :)

  2. Hank

I’d like to use any bike trainer with Bluetooth capability to log my exercise into phone and watch.

  3. Marky Mark

Maybe a Fenix 5X. I always wished to have a watch with maps, earlier I refrained from Epix due to its bugs, later I acquired a Fenix 3 HR. And I could not afford to spend the price difference between F3HR and F5X.
If I won I would sell my F3HR to finance the gap. That’s my plan

  4. Boulouze

    Hello everybody !
I would love a gopro to record all my actions with the kids or the Garmin 645m to run without smartphone.
    Bests !

  5. Sergio QH

    Hi!
Interesting…. I think I would buy a Suunto Spartan. I never had Suunto, I love running and practice thriatlon and I think that watch could be my perfect partner.
    But…. the Garmin 935 it’s a really good possibility too…. oh dear… I don’t know !!
    I don’t have a bike gps… Garmin 520…
    I have not 500$ and I don’t know what to do… ??
Thanks for the opportunity, and, I promise, if I’m the winner, I’ll take my decision quickly.

  6. Matthew

I’d go for a Go Pro Hero 6 for some action footage

  7. Paul N

I would choose the vivoactive 3, because my Android wear was a mistake :o(

  8. Almos Papp

Difficult decision, but: gopro Hero 6 – I would like to share Salzkammergut Trophy with people not participating

  11. Maurice

I probably would go for the garmin forerunner 935 as it offers all I need and i like the design.

  14. Nadal

Maybe wait for new Polar tri watch

  15. Adam Brady

Watteam PowerBeat because it is the perfect intersection of price and function for me. And I’d throw in a set of daytime bike lights for my commutes, as well.

  16. Jón

I’ll probably go for a Garmin cycling thingy like the Edge 1030 or something along that line

  17. Benjamin Ward

Thanks for the giveaway! I’d probably get fenix 5s, I prefer the size to my fenix 3. Alternatively, a scosche optical HR and every single colour band under the sun for the fenix 3.

  18. Roman

I’d love to try the new 645 Music from Garmin, to run without any phone in my pocket!

  19. Sebastian

Edge 520 or GoPRO, still not yet decided but there’s time for that.

  20. Krispy

  21. Simon Parker

I’d get a Garmin 935! It does the lot for my needs.
I hope you are enjoying my home town!

  22. MC

  23. Carly Domingues

Definitely a power metre! I need to step up my cycling game!

  24. Shawn Green

The new Garmin Forerunner 645. I’m ready to ditch my Apple Watch and touchscreen for a real running watch with buttons!

    Thanks!

  28. Sully

  29. Martin

I would get a Garmin forerunner 935 to replace my current Garmin vivoactive (the first version). This would be in the hope that an upgrade in running watch would lead to an update in motivation for running…

  30. Nicolas

mmh, i would go for a power meter. did i mention i love australia?

  31. Petri Kortelainen

Garmin Vector 3 – for all that cycling dynamics data to analyze!

  32. David

Hmmm the choices… I think I’d go a set of Garmin Vecter 3s as I think winning this would be the only chance I’d have of getting that purchase past the financial controller.

  33. Sebestyen Jozsa

Western Mountaineering AlpinLite Cranberry Right Zip Down Sleeping Bag 20F – I live in the Alps, a warm sleeping bag is needed for my adventures

  34. Tracy Walsh

I’d go for the Vector 3s as my old P2 needs a powermeter.

  35. Edward B.

I would like to get a Suunto Spartan to help me train for an upcoming half marathon in the next 3 months.

  36. Steve

I would like to go for the Suunto Spartan ultra as my old Ambit only lasts 1 day on battery…

  37. Ole Kristensen

Fenix 5 because of the topo-map

  38. CMV

    A 935XT or a 645 Music… or maybe something else!
The new Scosche HR sensor is also tempting.

  39. Jedrek Hagedorn

I’d love a Forerunner 645 music, as it’s nice and light and I’m not a triathlete. Cheers!

  40. Adam Collins

Happy Australia day, all! I’d like to get some power info in my life, so I’d spend it on a power meter. Either that or a new Garmin watch – love mine to bits but, as always, there are better ones released all the time!

    Thanks Ray!

  41. jbranco

Well, probably the Garmin Forerunner 935 – sounds like a nice upgrade for my FR 10 :)
    Thanks for this iniciative!

  42. Filip Schmid

    Hi Ray!
.. I’ll take a trip to Australia. But since this is not listed in their store, I’ll have the Vector 3 powermeter, so I can properly pace myself on my way to down under. (hope the vectors are water resistant for the swimming portion)
Thank you for the giveaway! Enjoy Australia!

  43. Davidc

Garmin Vector 3, and thanks for hosting the beer, bike and tech catchup in ADELAIDE

  44. Paul

Fenix 5s/5, trying to make my mind in size

  47. Dmitrij

Go Pro camera! to record my rides!!!

  48. Martin Lewis

I’d love to win some Vector 3 pedal- need to start training with power to see where I can improve!

  49. Hypokris

Most probably a nice piece of fenix 5

  50. Kaz

I would use it for some Garmin bike radar and lights as London is not bike friendly.

  51. John Kissane

645 Music to replace my aging 620!

  52. Robert T

I would like to try out a Suunto device, I have never used that brand before

  53. Jeff Byrnes

Fenix 5. Or the 5x, or the new Scoche heart stap. Or the new Garmin pedals… Argh I can’t decide.

  54. Mel

Garmin fr 645m for the music! The smaller form factor doesn’t hurt.

  55. Sebastian

I`d treat myself to a TACX Neo as I really enjoyed Zwift this winter, but can’t stand the noise of my old Vortex anymore.

  56. Rafael Nogueira

I would love to get the Garmin vector 3 pedals to improve by training.

  57. Blakie Tav

I would get a 935. My 920 is getting pretty sluggish!!!

  60. alexey p

    fenix5

  61. Carlos Moby

I need an Apple Watch S3 Cellular. Let me explain. One day I was at work but needed a swim so I went to the local pool. I didn’t bring my mobile. At the same time my poor soon was at home by himself when our pet Dachshund (Pedro) dug under our fence and escaped into the neighbors yard. He freaked out as this had never happened before! Mum was at work. And when he tried my mobile…anyway, Pedro eventually scurried back into the yard and when I got back to my desk I got an earful (aussie expression). So..for my sake, my son’s and more than anything for Pedro’s sake, please help me get that S3 Cellular. I promise to wear it every time I go to the pool! Carlos.

    • Carlos Moby

Ha! Clever Training doesn’t sell Apple Watch. Vivoactive 3? That watch rocks. Pedro will love it!!

  62. A Garmin 645 – would be useful to help with my training for this years London Marathon.

  63. Shane O

I’d go for a GoPro Hero6 – this winter, my local parkrun route has developed a massive puddle that the runners splash through each week – I’d love to stick a GoPro in front of it and get some cool shots

  64. Thomas T

    New Garmin 1030!

  65. Mark R

Five hundred US, not 500 Aussie bucks? Probably an Elemnt Bolt and maybe preorder a new Scosche Rhythm for my wife.

I could use a new computer – my classic Cateye Stealth 50 won’t connect to my Rhythm+ (it’s ANT address is outside the head unit’s limit). “My” Rhythm+ started life as her’s

  66. Attila K

I really want a goprot because I live in a poor country and I will never have the money

  67. Alan

    Thanks for the givaway DCR!

I’d probably get a Garmin 1030, because I have no sense of direction and I’m tired of waiting for the hammerhead Karoo.

  68. Edoardo

Great Giveaway! Hope to have one!

  69. Simon Patchett

I would buy a garmin forerunner 630 as I’m a massive geek and love data, also running with my 5 year old edge 500 – isn’t ideal!

  70. František

New Forerunner 645M would be fine. Thanks!:-)

  71. Michal

Would love to have a Fenix5 to start my adventure with hiking and swimming indoors.
    Hope to win!

  72. Steven Olander

    Hi Ray
I would for sure get the Garmin 935 with a foot pod so i could get away from my HR chest strap and still have the running metric and HR.

  73. James

The FR645 so that those looooonnnggg slow runs are a bit more enjoyable with some music from the watch! Here’s hoping :)

  74. Kevin R

I’m sure it would take me months to decide what to get, but that would be a good few months

  75. Sam

Probably a nice running watch for this triathlon season!!

  76. Stephen Hughes

I’m looking to buy the Garmin 645 Music so this competition could be well timed. At least they finally put music on a watch!

  77. Patryk

„Fenix 5 to start regular running. Come on”

  78. Stephen

    Scosche and the stryde.

  79. ian porter

    Forerunner 935

    because my F5 sucks at ANT+ :(

  80. Patrick Bashor

DJI Spark drone. I’m tired of either having to beg someone to take a poorly framed picture of us when we’re on vacation or the stupid selfie thing.

  81. Erik S. V.

    Wow!
I’d probably go for a new garmin running watch, i’m currently running with the fenix3, but feel its a bit chunky, especially since i’m also using it everyday at work etc. Having a watch with 24h HR monitoring would also be nice.

    Erik

  82. Luca Dell'Oca

I’d like a Garmin Edge 1030, even if I need to pay the difference, because I’m tired of the ugly pictures I talke of my bikes with the ugly cellphone bag hanging over the stem, and I broke once my phone when it felt off the bag during a ride…

  83. Alma

Happy Australia Day! If selected I would use it towards a Suunto Spartan Trainer and a Wahoo Element Bolt.

  84. Ian Hale

Vector 3, so that I can FEEL THE POWER!!

  85. Marcus

A power meter as I have seen on the smart trainer that it actually makes sense :)

  86. Eric Alé

I would choose GoPro Hero6 :O so I can record and share my Ultra Trail races in mountain.

  87. Joakim Wiberg

I’d get a Fenix 5X, my girlfriend is constantly using my Fenix 3.

    Thanks Ray!

  88. Benjamin Pettett

I’d love to get a Pioneer dual sided power meter for my Ultegra 6800 bike.Though I probably need some new bib shorts more! Cheers.

  89. Jacek

Fenix 5 or 935 – I would be able to stop switching watches every time I go to the pool.

  90. Sebastiano

I would get a new Fenix 5 because the altimeter of my old Fenix 2 it’s definitely gone crazy!

  91. Arjen

I would get the Vector 3, which looks like a good product and with a $500 credit it looks even better!

  92. Sergey

GoPro 6 Black to have pictures of my daughter.

  93. maxfrance

Garmin Vector 3 pedals and a Scosche Rhythm 24 would be a top choice. I’d gladly pay the difference !

  94. Anthony Carmody

I’d love a pair of Garmin Vector 3’s. I want a power meter anyway, I’m a garmin junkie and I could swap them between bikes.

Thanks DCR and enjoy being down under, we’re happy to have you.

  95. Loek Zinkweg

I’d love me a Fenix 5 to run and ride with!

  96. JR

I have Fenix 3 so I would upgrade to another Fenix…..

  97. Wez

I’ll get a Wahoo Bolt and a powermeter to take my training to the next level!

  98. Hello from Portugal. I would get a Wahoo Fitness KICKR or SNAP. I’ve been on a personal journey in cycling. I’m 27 and never learn how to ride but in the gym I fell in love with cycling and since have given up on the gym and been learning this last month to ride. But until I am confident there is only so much I can do. So an indoor trainer would help train at home, not only in the days I can’t go out on the road, but also while I don’t trust myself on any serious rides.

    Thanks for the opportunity

  99. fabio

I think i’ll buy a power meter..maybe the vector 3, because is the only sport device i miss.

  100. Tom McEnery

Garmin Vector 3 power meter. 6 years in triathlon now and never trained with power, I think it would take my cycling up a notch or two
