The Because It’s Friday $500 Gadget Giveaway!

DSC_9991

Today is Friday – you made it to the end of the week. But more importantly, today is also Australia Day. I only know that because I’m in Australia, and the beaches are more crowded than the starting line of a marathon (still, I pretended to workout and went for a short swim).  Thus, it seems reason enough to give away some gadget goodness.  But fear not, I won’t be restricting this to those in Australia, or any other country.  Anyone, anywhere on earth, is welcome to join as always.

Somehow it’s been far too long since we’ve last done a giveaway.  I seriously don’t know how, because I talk about it almost every month with the Clever Training crew, and then somehow it slips off my radar.  Perhaps we just need more holidays to have faux reasons for me to give stuff away.

The winner will get a $500 credit to CleverTraining.com, my most excellent partner in this giveaway crime.  By supporting the site through Clever Training you also can save 10% on almost anything they sell (or get points instead).  If you win, you can use that credit for anything from the GoPro Hero6 Black, to a Suunto Spartan Ultra, to a random pair of socks, to the Garmin Vector 3 power meter, or heck, even towards a new trainer.  Whatever floats your boat (note: they don’t sell boats).  Also note, your credit is in US dollars, not Australian – otherwise you’d get less.  Nobody wants less.

How to enter:

Simply leave a short description of what product you’d get and why (but don’t worry, you can change your mind later if you win).

The reason you need a short description of ‘why’ is that if you just put a simple product name (I.e. F5), you’ll likely get caught up in my SPAM filters.  And nobody wants to be sandwiched between two pieces of SPAM.  Got all that?

Good luck!

The giveaway entry period will run through Monday, January 29th, 2018 until 11:59PM US Eastern Time.  Winner will be selected randomly.  One entry per person.  The selected product/products will then be ordered immediately and shipped immediately, assuming they’re in stock.

Hmm… probably a set of powermeter pedals (Vector 3?) because right now they’re a bit out of price range but with $500 credit, that could very well change :)

  8. Joonas

Hero 6 probably, as I think Clever Training doesn’t sell drones..?

  9. Andrew Morris

Me? I’d get the Garmin Vector 3 Power meter. Because my cycling training is all about power (or lack thereof), and this meter would show me how much power I am actually lacking.

  10. Adam

I would get the Gopro Hero 6, great for taking videos on the bike.

  11. Lee Zavarise

I’m not sure. So much to choose from. I’ve always wanted an action camera so probably the Garmin virb ultra 30, so I can film my rides.

  12. James

I would probably get an action cam. I already have an Fenix 3, and while the 5’s look great, not really all that necessary to upgrade. But being able to share video is great!

  13. Emlyn

    Part way towards etap maybe.

  14. seven

  39. Sean

Random Generator, pick me so I can have a power meter please!

  40. Yohann

Happy Friday! Most likely a new power meter, garmin vector 3 could be nice!

  43. Hannu

    Garmin Vector please!

  44. Eyal

I think I will get a Fenix 5 as an update to my current Fenix 3

Hi Ray, thanks for this offer and thanks for your blog.
I would go for the Garmin Forerunner 935.
Why: it would fit most of my requirements. It is a pretty expensive watch, and so far, I didn’t get the approval from my wife…

  49. John Caldwell

I would probably get an Edge 1030 because why not??

  50. Ian

I’d probably put it towards a smart trainer as a fire destroyed all my cycling stuff over Christmas and you’ve got to start again somewhere!

  51. Matt Reier

Garmin Fenix 5….because I am in need of a nicer looking watch that I can run with too.

  52. Strontal

    Milan

  63. Jordi Backx

I’d really like to have the Garmin Vector 3 dual side power pedals, because my Powertap’s are destroyed two months back. :-(

  64. Matt

I’ve managed to kill both my 735xt and 910xt this week. Swimming is the culprit on both occasions. So I need a new watch, and unsurprisingly I’m looking at a forerunner 935.

    • Duncan74

I know this is the competition post, but I went from a 910 to a 935 in December. Fantastic choice. Most surprising is the improvement in the pool swim autolap accuracy. Using it as my 24/7 watch too, and not having to mess about with the ant connection for upload is so much better.

  65. Matt

Perhaps a stryd to start measuring power and see how well it matches up.

  66. Nicola

I’d like to buy a Garmin Verb Ultra, to shoot pictures of my rides and of my skiing activities

  73. Chris Misker

I’d go for a power meter for my bike!

  74. Hubert

A Garmin Forerunner 935 on my arm should be looking damm cool :-)

  75. Tim Hill

Garmin Fenix 5X Sapphire – because GPS on phone is uncool.

  82. Steve A

New scosche hr sensor looking pretty fancy

  83. Glenn

Thanks for holding this. I would go for the Garmin Fenix 5x. Why? Because I’m heading to Africa and want a watch with its capabilities before I leave. Oh, also I want to get back into running but don’t Reallyhave room in my life for changing watches at the moment.

  84. Arkapol

I would go for a new trainer. Probably Elite Direto. I need something that produce less noise than the current one. Can’t do any train outside right now. It’s below freezing outside right now.

  88. Darren

Time to upgrade my 735XT to a 935 or new 645. Also, happy Australia Day from Melbourne!

  90. Leon

Definitely Garmin 645 music! Need my jam for the run!
