Tanita BC-601 Segmental Body Composition Scale
This unit actually came in a while ago, and is working it’s way through the review process. There’s a bit of a pile of scales these days. This unit is a bit different in that it measures the different body segments, and contains an SD card upload method. This one will hit the review publishing about the same time as the rest…aka…after I finish recovering from the cruise.

Why does it seem like you can either get an Ant+ scale with limited features or a scale with lots of features but no Ant+. Would it really be that hard to put Ant+ or Wifi into a scale like this? (or maybe have it work with a wifi SD card like the eye-fi or Transcend wifi sd memory card to automatically upload to a tracking web site)
Is there any progress in this review? I am really looking forward to hear your in depth analysis on this unit!!
hi
i want to know alsoo the revire of it please
do you have it?
thanks
yossi
Yeah… hmm is this review going to be ready anytime soon?
Sigh..
I was futzing with it yesterday. It’s just a scale that seems so far behind. No connectivity in it. No Bluetooth Smart, Bluetooth, WiFi, ANT+, nothing. I have to sneak-net it back and forth to their desktop software which isn’t stellar. Just clunky.
I generally lose motivation with things that aren’t competitive in the market.
That said, I have been piecing together all the scale reviews lately. Eventually plan is a ‘scale week’ or something.
Hi,
I’ve got one of these and have used it for two years now. In my honest opinion it isn’t the most accurate set of scales …. I regularly get weight swings of 7 to 10lb between consecutive days. I’ve taken to using the tanita scales and stepping off onto a trusty old calibrated set that i use as a reference set. They show consistent weights from day to day whereas the Tanita BC601 can be plus or minus 7lb and occaisonally spot on…
Before you ask the obvious question I weigh myself at the same time everyday, in the same place.
buyer beware… a trusty old set of calibrated scales and a set of medical grade skinfold calipers are probably more accurate in my opinion.
Cheers,
Wes
I’ve actually been thinking about getting a BC601 for a couple of days now. I’m so glad that I ran across this post and also saw these helpful comments below before I was just going to pull out my credit card and do the purchase online. Thanks guys!
Had a script to get the data from this scale in a fit file and to Garmin connect, but it seems Garmin doesn’t support upload of weight fit files any more. Has anyone solved this? I know it’s ancient tech.
Thanks for helping
