Garmin Forerunner 310XT Giveaway

Because it’s almost Cherry Blossom time here in DC (one more week!).  Because you’re probably contemplating getting back outdoors for workouts (except you lucky fools in Hawaii, you don’t count).  Because it’s pretty…and maybe just a little bit because you know you want it…

So I’m giving away a brand new Garmin Forerunner 310XT.

Garmin 310XT with the blossoms

Here’s my in depth review if you aren’t familiar with the little orange device. Though, I can pretty much guarantee you’ll love it.

I’m going to do this giveaway a bit different than before – just to mix things up a bit.  Simply provide an answer to the below question and you’ll be entered:

What’s your funniest training moment to date?

Or, you can just say ‘Hi’.  Either way – one comment, one entry.

See, that’s pretty painless, right? If ya have technical questions, thoughts/comments/diatribes/poems regarding the FR310XT specifically, use that post page for those writings.

The contest will run until Monday March 28th, 2011 at 11:59PM Eastern Time, at which point I’ll close the entry period.  Like the all my giveaways there are no restrictions on where the goods go to – so no matter where in the world you are, I’ll send to you.  The winner will get a brand new Garmin Forerunner 310XT (with HR strap).

(Note: If you’re active duty military and deployed, and are unable to complete the entry method above, simply shoot me an e-mail and I’ll get ya entered in.  For those curious on how the giveaways work, here’s the deets.  Thanks all!)

  1. Finding out during a race that I forgot to take the plastic wrapping off my water bottle.

  2. I had my husband ran my company 10k with me, but he was traveling and had to show up late. He ran in whatever he found in his car, which wasnt the best clothes to wear. Needless to say, he is now referred to as the “bloody nipples” guy around my office every year when the run occurs.

At valentine’s day, i programmed our shared FR305 and and gave it to my girlfriend and told her to run according to the directions given, and I told her I would run another path. Instead i ran and bought flowers to meet her up when finished. The idea was that the gps-route would form a heart when looking on it afterwards online. So I met her up, she still did not get the idea of the strange route, and without the flowers it might have failed completely. When we logged in to look at the route map I thought it was the end of that day: due to some construction works going on, she had to change the route slightly, and it now formed just half a heart!

However, she found the idea very sweet, and the rest of the evening was quite nice. But, next time, i guess we’ll run it together instead.

Realizing I had started out a ride to/from work too late when I walked back into a full office in spandex and bike shoes… took a while to live that down

  6. Hi!!! Love the blog!

  7. I want the 310XT soooooo bad!

  8. My funniest moment(s) involve not unclipping on my Antares rollers and going sideways into various pieces of furniture and/or the wall. The wall is only a problem because after 20 minutes of occasional squeaking and loud panting, the sudden *thud* and quiet gets a weird reaction from the neighbors (I live in an apartment building…).

    I’m *really* bad at unclipping…

  9. Dressing up as Richard Simmons for a Halloween themed 1/2 marathon. Embarrassing part: nobody else dressed up at all for the race.

  10. Funniest moment was when I was trying to clip into my bike to get fitted and we couldn’t figure out why it wasn’t working only to realize that I had my cleat covers on.

  12. so many of these are injuries…I’m just going to add to it. 🙂 I was on my first-ever ride with my then-boyfriend/now-fiance, and also my first outdoors ride with my clipless pedals (had mostly used the shoes for spin class at the gym up to then). I was stopped at the side of the road waiting for the guys to catch up, left foot unclipped, when bang! I tipped over on the right side. (HUGE BRUISE, couldn’t sleep on it for a week.) Everyone was really sweet and rushed over to make sure I was ok (strangers & boyfriend alike), but I was just grinning because I’d finally had my first clipped-in fall…which made me a REAL CYCLIST!! 🙂

I’m trying to get my 10 year old interested in riding for fitness, and so far it’s going well. Except for when I tried to show off by riding my mountain bike up a hill that was entirely too steep. I was reminded yet again of certain advantages found in a “girl” bike (which is not what I was riding), as the family jewels were pretty much rearranged into a new setting.

  14. Maybe not the funniest moment, but certainly the most interesting moment was doing a 6hr simulation ride with the aero helmet in 40 degrees Celsius (100+F?). Overheated and had to get support crew hubby to drive half an hour out of town to meet me and swap helmet back to regular one!

  15. Hearing the chime and subsequent voice on my iPhone to tell me that I was midway through a run when suddenly John Bon Jovi belts out, “oOOoOO, we’re half-way there…wOOoOOoah, we’re livin’ on a prayer.”
