Quick Heads Up: Garmin Instinct 2 Series Beginners Guide Posted

Just a super quick Saturday heads up that I’ve published a full beginners guide video on the Garmin Instinct 2 series, covering the Instinct 2, 2S, and Solar editions. I hands-on with a long-form feature explainer showing all the new features as well as many existing features in how they work, step by step. This includes a user interface walk-through of the settings, sport modes, display aspects, GPS navigation and routing aspects, widgets, settings, Garmin Pay, and plenty more features and functions.

But more important, I give tons of practical tips after months of usage, both the secret little features, but also the caveats. You can use the YouTube Chapters within the video itself, or, here’s the timestamps for the rough blocks of the video:

0:00 Quick Overview
0:51 Watchface & Customization
2:18 Widgets & Activity/Health Data
10:12 All The Settings Options
17:28 Sport Modes & Usage
24:30 GPS Navigation & Routing
29:05 Sensors & Connectivity
31:31 Instinct Secret Flashlight Mode
32:49 Solar Functionality
36:28 Garmin Pay

Phew, got all that? As always, you can jump into my full in-depth review of the Instinct 2 series, where of course I have even more details.

Thanks for watching!

Thanks for posting. Still on the fence between the 955 and the instinct 2.

Is there a tide widget available for the base version? Or is it only available with surf version? I like to see the weekly tides to plan open water swims.

  3. That solar function will really help me here in Spain on those longer training days. Plus I can recommend this to my athletes and triathletes. The long usage time is great for IRONMAN races.

  4. Is the unit anywhere near accurate or just as inaccurate as the previous version especially altitude

Im testing a Instinct 2 Solar Surf.
Today I did a bike ride.
The Instinct 2 recognized my Vector 2s powermeter automaticaly, but the setup process was unsuccessful.
The message “Pedal at a Cadece of 80-90 rpm” appears. I’m pedaling, but the message stays active all the time. I can’t use my Garmin powermeter with the Instinct 2!
With Fenix 3, Fenix 5 and FR955, there was no problem with the setup of the Vector 2.

Today I disconect the Vector pedals from the sensor menu of the Instinct 2.
I had to reconnect manualy, but now it works. I can calibrate the Vector pedal.

Uninstall an do it again, the solution of nearly every IT problem. 😉
