DJI NEO 2 vs HoverAir X1 Pro Max: Skiing Comparison!

YouTube video

Here’s your complete comparison between ski tracking modes in both of the two popular sub-250g sports-tracking drones, which require no remote control or other accessories to follow you.

In this case, I took them out on back-to-back tests on the same runs (repeatedly) to see how they handled…and, as it turned out, how they crashed. So many crashes.

Anyway, even if you’re not into buying drones, as always with these tracking tests, you’ll probably find it entertaining/interesting/something.

With that – thanks for watching!

    Loved the video.

But still waiting for the inreach mini 3 review :)

    • Fear not, that’s next. Got the failure root-cuase answers I needed from Garmin yesterday, and just need to shoot the video. Should be all up tomorrow. :)

Curious if you intend to give full reviews on the unfinished products post, or if that post is intended to suffice?
Specifically curious about the Fenix 8 Pro.

Understandable if the summary is intended as sufficient.

    • Definitely intend to have full reviews for most of those products, most notalbly the Fenix 8 Pro. Very close to being done on that one. Almost certainly out Tuesday.

Most cities in China prohibit drones

Any idea why the Neo was having problems with that section? It didn’t seem that extreme or strange.

    Hey Ray,

Which Neo 2 firmware did you use at time of testing in this video that focused on ski? A new firmware came on Dec 10th. Just curious whether it fixed the issues you flagged.

Also don’t get it why the Neo 2 crashes on slopes and not in off pist mode. That said just bought my Neo 2 especially for off pist. Glad to see it works well for this scenario.

    Hi Ray,

I am planning buying a drone.
I’ve seen the other videos for Dji Neo 2 (wind test and follow mode) which one will you buy?
I will use it for running, travelling and maybe skiing but mostly the first 2…
    Thanks!
