Have some fun in the travel section.
I travel a fair bit, both for work and for fun. Here’s a bunch of random trip reports and daily trip-logs that I’ve put together and posted. I’ve sorted it all by world geography, in an attempt to make it easy to figure out where I’ve been.
My Photography Gear: The Cameras/Drones/Action Cams I Use Daily
The most common question I receive outside of the “what’s the best GPS watch for me” variant, are photography-esq based. So in efforts to combat the amount of emails I need to sort through on a daily basis, I’ve complied this “My Photography Gear” post for your curious minds (including drones & action cams!)! It’s a nice break from the day-to-day sports-tech talk, and I hope you get something out of it!
The Swim/Bike/Run Gear I Use List
Many readers stumble into my website in search of information on the latest and greatest sports tech products. But at the end of the day, you might just be wondering “What does Ray use when not testing new products?”. So here is the most up to date list of products I like and fit the bill for me and my training needs best! DC Rainmaker 2023 swim, bike, run, and general gear list. But wait, are you a female and feel like these things might not apply to you? If that’s the case (but certainly not saying my choices aren’t good for women), and you just want to see a different gear junkies “picks”, check out The Girl’s Gear Guide too.
FYI, I got a Dutch DJI Neo ad on your site (I was not logged in).
It was for the DJI store in the Westfield Mall of the Netherlands. This is the link it went to:
link to dji-experiencestore.com
That’s interesting. I definitely didn’t even know DJI had a separate website URL for their experience stores. I’ll forward along to the blocking company.
It’s interesting when I bought the Neo, it was actually at the Paris DJI Experience Store, which is technically not run by DJI, but by some random tech company.
No DJI Osmo Action 5 content yet?
Yes, that is a bit strange. There are 2 GoPros in this episode and no mention of the new DJI action cam, which is an obvious and strong competitor.
In order to receive early access to products, DJI is now requiring that:
A) Those creators send in full copies of their views/reviews ahead of time for them to approve
B) Did not permit any creators from commenting on the video quality in comparisons for the Action 5
C) Pushing hard to have creators agree to a non-compete agreement that prohibits them from posting content about other action cams and drones for a 90-day period
Obviously, I’m not agreeing to any of that. Thus almost all the content you saw for the launch of the Action 5, agreed to those rules (albeit some did then thankfully break some of those rules, but not the most popular videos).
Thus, I was finally able to go out and buy (and get) the Action 5 the afternoon we filmed this. I have it, and have started to capture footage. I’ll probably do a review in a week or so.
That said, I’m pretty sure we actually mentioned that this episode was so packed, that we said in the video we’d talk about the Action 5 next time.
Wow, those are quite the conditions! Thanks, Ray, for all your work.
Compared to the Apple Watch, the Garmin Fenix 8 isn’t really a disappointment after what I’ve read, although it seems users expect a lot less from a new Apple Watch compared to a Garmin Fenix..
Talking about the Apple Watch: for health campaigns here in Belgium the government checks a balance between checking as many people as possible and the workload and cost because of the inevitable large group of false positives. I wonder how many people are going to their physician while it really isn’t needed, sure there are success stories, but I wonder about the other side of things: how much does it cost to society (in countries with a decent health care system), how much longer some other patients have to wait longer for an appointment, how many people think they don’t have an issue and don’t go to the physician because their watch indicates there isn’t a problem although in reality there is..
Just some questions that seem important to answer in my opinion..
It seems the podcast does not update on Youtube Music, at least it does not show on my end as a new episode (but do show up fine in standard Youtube).
Doh, thanks, fixed!
Perfect, it is already there, thank you!
