Hey Everyone!!

I will begin with my apologizes for missing last week! I was waiting on the Boss-Man to press publish on a post, and then, well… life happened.

What “life stuff” happened? Well I’ll fill you in on most of that down below in the In-Depth Thoughts section, but as a sneak peek, I’ll let you know that we are currently running around (literally) way up north, here in the Arctic Circle! You know, casually trying to find Santa.

So, what’s happening as of late on the blog?

Well, Ray has been spending a substantial amount of time cranking out testing, photos, and general life activities with the Polar Vantage V watch. While we have not yet seen the fruit from that labor, it’s coming soon! I think he wanted a few more super-cold weather workouts over the weekend in the mix. So hang tight.

What he did do was, a How-To: Troubleshooting Power Meter and Trainer Accuracy Issues. I had a good laugh, because the thumbnail photo for that post has a hammer in it and that was the first thing I saw. I wondered if that was Ray’s subtle homage to how I (The Girl) would solve technical issues in our household? Other than using a hammer, I would also yell… “RAYYYYYY WTH????”. So if you’re not handy with a hammer, or have Ray to yell at in person. I suggest you read the post!

Next up on the site was a hefty In-Depth Review. The SRM EXAKT Power Meter Pedals had their day in the sun, or…. errrr… well, Ray wrote about them. My mom always told me if I don’t have anything nice to say, then shut my trap. So I’ll let you decide, or at least guide you to the comment section of the post for your entertainment purposes.

And finally, in case you missed it, last week I shared the link to our newly minted DCR Approved Amsterdam Food Guide. It’s still a work in progress, as we have become pretty picky on restaurants. As well, some readers shared some recommendations with me after the last newsletter, so clearly I still have some more eating to do!

As always, if you think reading is faux-pas and audio-visual is more your style, be sure to check out the DC Rainmaker YouTube Channel and click subscribe! By doing so you will be “in the know” for future new videos by Ray. This is where you need to be to check out videos like last week’s LIVE Q&A!

That’s the round up from this past week. Now if you have time, keep it moving to below the fold for the “In-Depth Thoughts from The Girl”.

In-Depth Thoughts from The Girl

*** Service Announcement***

If you are living in or nearby Amsterdam, and want to join Ray and I for this Saturday’s Santa Run, be sure to follow this link to the Facebook event page! It’s free, it’s for fun, and simply running a few loops of Vondelpark dressed in your favorite goofy holiday attire. We hope to see you there!

*** End Service Announcment***

Hey there, or should I say… “Brrrrrr”. The DCR Newsletter HQ is way up here in Rovaniemi, Finland! Now, some of you might be wondering “WHERE?”, so I’ll save you the trouble of google mapping just where we are and give you the map below.

Okay, so now that you know where we are, you might be wondering “WHYYYY?”.

Well, obviously we are on a mission to find Santa! We were invited by friends to join them on a winter adventure to the North, and knowing Ray and I, how could we say no?

So far we have found Polar Bears, Moose, Reindeer, Snowy Owls, Alaskan Huskies, Elfs, the Arctic Circle, the joy of sledding, and of course, good ol’ Saint Nick! The girls were much less impressed with the Man with the big white beard as they were their first sledding ride, but you probably know that already as you obviously follow me on Instagram for the insiders know all. No? Oh well.

Another plus to this snowy adventure is, our friends we are traveling with have two kiddos the same age as our peanuts. So they have been having a blast running around after each other. Even us adults have been out running around too. I get to say I have had the pleasure to off season run with a pro and Ironman 70.3 Champion. The boys played nice and let me set the pace! At -4 degrees and snowy, I think everyone was happy to just trudge along and enjoy the crisp frosty air.

With just one more day, and limited daylight hours left here in the North, I must get going! So much to do and so little time! I have to say, if you have kiddos anywhere from walking age and up, this town is a great place to come! Incredibly kid oriented and kid friendly. Kuddos to Finland!

Ciao,

~The Girl
